The came into being on 14.11.1959 with its registration as a Society (Registration No. 49 of 1959/60). The list of past and present devotees of Jabalpur who worship and revere Thakur Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Shri Maa Sarada and Swami Vivekananda as their idols, is very long, and their much needed association with this organization cannot be forgotten.

The Ashrama in keeping with the commitment as enshrined in its constitution, has been running a co-ed school named " Shri Ramkrishna Ashram Shishu Vidya mandir"(Dise code 23390225310 ) since 1974.

The school has all the necessary facilities like well ventilated class rooms, computer, biology, physics and chemistry labs, play ground, ramps, drinking water,emergency medicines and toilets etc. The school is affiliated to Madhya Pradesh Education Board and enrolls children from pre- primary level upto class 12th in hindi and english medium. The school charges very low monthly fee from the parents and guardians as the locality in which the school is situated is populated by the with low income. There are 35 teaching staff and the present enrollment of student is 650. The school is spread over 40000 square feet.
